Sustainability

The IT industry creates a huge environmental footprint across CO2, Water, Minerals and e-waste. The avoidance of unnecessary resource usage and CO2/e-waste creation must be our collective goal.

CO2

The average new laptop creates 331kg of CO2.

Water

Over 190,000 litres of water is used in the extraction, refining and production of one new laptop and its components.

Minerals

To manufacture the necessary materials to create each component of one laptop, 1,200 kg of the Earth’s resources are mined and consumed.

E-Waste

A record 62 million tonnes (Mt) of e-waste was produced in 2022, up 82% from 2010.

Re-Use

70% of laptops could be re-used, but less than 20% currently are.

We are carbon neutral plus company

Our processes create over 15 times less CO2 compared to the manufacture of a brand new laptop, but we more than offset our CO2 production, making us a certified Carbon Neutral Plus company.
